Masks

This mask you see
This image
Is but a tiny piece I show
Of the real me

Years have gone by
And pile upon pile
The masks have grown
One for each person
Who sees me only the way they
Want me to be

I don't want to be that
Thing you believe is me
I want to be myself
My true self
Not the false mask I wear
For you to use for your own benefit

I am tired, and so
As of today
The wall of masks comes down
The lies of my life
Are history, one by one
